I've also noticed this site has it as well. Not associated with them in any way. Just found them while looking for Sebstar HTL as well.

Re: Hybrid controller
Is this basically the same as one of the EZBoil controllers, except broken out into two separate controllers? I like the flexibility your setup provides. And I think (novice here) the EZboil seems to combine the two into one nice small package.

Re: Time for a new controller.
That looks like a great controller. By chance did you ever make a wiring diagram you could share? Or more pictures to figure it out? I'm in the process of figuring one out, and like what you've built.

Re: Multi-use SSR controller?
Thanks Demy! That's one for using a pot/SSR setup, and using temp gauges.
Anyone brew/still with the same controller that use the EZBrew or PID (with manual)?

Multi-use SSR controller?
Hi all! I'd like opinions on building an SSR controller that I can use both for beer brewing (Boil Kettle and Hot Liquor Tank), as well as a still controller. I was thinking of starting with something simple like the StillDragon DIY kits. For a still, I'd use it as I've seen people use them here. Fo...

Re: Any benefit of using 2
A 3 inch 4 plate bubble column with 2 inch triclamp connections is about $250 US shipped from China (Alibaba or Aliexpress). Doubt I could make one much cheaper, and the borosilicate glass column is damn sexy. Just as a data point for posterity, and how Covid is affecting costs; that same setup is ...

Re: Safety of Chinese Stainless Steel Condensers and Still parts?
The customs fees are for products over $200 shipped to USA from China. Your condenser would not have a customs fee or VAT (value added tax). I've ordered lots of stainless spools, triclamps, shotgun condenser, and even a bubble cap column from aliexpress and never paid customs fees. Hmm.. I wonder ...

Re: Chinese column/pot still: which is the better design?
You get what you pay for.....imo both are cheap Chinese junk. This is true. Hence my asking as I've read various experiences with people ordering parts. Most seem to get very good items. Some not so much. The SS wall thickness on this one is ~1.5mm. Not the thickness, but thick enough for a non-pre...

Re: Chinese column/pot still: which is the better design?
What are trying to make with it? All of the silicone gaskets would have to be replaced. Silicone isn’t safe for distillation. Rum, whisky, fruit brandies. Maybe eventually vodka/neutral for cordials. One of the reasons I liked this design is that it is modular. So going from a short pot still to so...

Chinese column/pot still: which is the better design?
Hi all, I've been lurking in and out of this subject for awhile now. But feel like I'm narrowing down my choices about what I want to do. On Aliexpress, there seems to be quite a few Stainless columns t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶b̶a̶s̶i̶c̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶d̶o̶w̶n̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶w̶o̶ ̶t̶y̶p̶e̶s̶. I like these over the a...

Re: Chinese double-wall still, ordering and setup
That's very nice! But oh my gosh! The cost of getting it to your front door! I've ordered a few much smaller things from Aliexpress, and the shipping was always all that was paid. Was it because it was thru Alibaba? And that shipping is just what it cost to ship out of China, but not accept into the...

Re: Keg Pot Still Design
Hm.. I'm still learning my way around the forums, and do see the rule #8 from time to time. I'll just leave it that in 20+ years of aerospace and pharmaceutical manufacturing (where impurities and leachables are a big deal) and being around lots of SS piping and gaskets (including chemical transport...

Re: Hello! Newbie here.
Definitely. The stuff I've seen on youtube is like finding an opinion on Facebook: some of it is spot on and verifiable. Some of it is plain garbage. I've been playing with freeze-distillation with various success (just finished 'fixing' a friends blue-berry wine. Way different flavor now), and some...

Re: Keg Pot Still Design
Not sure what you are calling a compression fitting but if it's the brass with a farrel and nut they don't like to be messed with on a regular basis. Picture attached on what I was thinking that I have seen for other connections. If your worried about gumming up the threads or nicking/deforming the...

Re: Keg Pot Still Design
Why not use a compression fitting? (being sure to make it so there is only copper surfaces inside).
That way you can angle the condenser at any angle you want, without re-soldering. You could even get fancy and solder a metal protractor to it to keep track of the angle.

Hello! Newbie here.
Hi Everyone, I remember tales of my dad describing how, as a kid exploring the woods where he grew up on a farm, sometimes finding dad/uncles/cousins enjoying some quality time and shine from mason jars. Recently I caught a few episodes of the docu-drama Moonshiners, and it not only tickled my memor...
