Re: Me running my CM reflux still by using a PID controller

The problem is that George is still out there expounding his theorys on this and other distilling related subjects. A quick look at the comments section of his videos says he has a large following of newbies who think that he is 100% correct on all things. I see a tidal wave of this sort off thing ...

Re: New BokaKob Advice

A solar still like they use to distill sea water might work but it seems difficult to make one big enough for enough wash to feed a boka. Depending how far north you are, some people are having success by leaving their wash outside and freezing it. But your intro states you already have a pot still...

Buy a controller and an on/off switch.

One element goes on switch for course control. For fine control, use any controller for your wattage from Aliexpress.

Re: What kind of distill is this, and how does it work?

It is not that old. They are still being made and sold. It makes no difference that its not that old and is still being sold...its an out dated and ancient design. Its marketed and sold by people who prey on those who know no better than to buy one. I was commenting on the age as the OP thought it ...

Re: Reflux And Tails

Pot still, VM still, CCVM, LM, LMVM combo, you already have a CM anyway. You can buy heads for that on ebay/amazon/aliexpress etc.

You can add Gin baskets, Sight glasses, Parrots, Bubble plates etc as well.

Yours is not a hybrid still. Yours is a modular still. It can be changed to a huge number of configurations.

Re: Chinese column/pot still: which is the better design?

I buy everything from aliexpress and have been quite happy. I have bought few parts from Australian shops but now everything is out of stock. The first still is from Dibosh and will supply 2" pipe end if you ask them. They indicate that in the diagram as well. They are the cheapest for that set...

>>Two reflux distillations, two carbon filterings or more? I would assume that something can be done. Two reflux distillations take a long time. Good carbon filtering has to be done very slow as well. You can maybe get a larger fermenter. In my parts they are like 10 USD for a 80 litre one. 220 Litr...

His PID fluctated. Mine did not and it was all on video.

Thanks!

Re: Dibosh CM Reflux still from China

I ran it by using a PID. I did create two videos on it but was hounded by people here so removed both videos. Now I use my still in a VM configuration so I stopped it as a CM.

If you see PID related videos on youtube then there is one where George runs his still using a PID.

I have a very similar still.

Works well.

I have changed the configuration to a VM still now. And yes, all the Australian sellers source from China and charge a huge markup. Most of them are out of stock now.

I feel your pain. I have ordered certain parts to upgrade my still but they are still in transit.

I ordered 4 things from a seller and he is sending it in 3 different parcels!
