Re: Dibosh CM Reflux still from China
Yeah that football is from a vevor 20 liter still I got years ago. It comes in handy on a few things. Saltbush, the football is part of the vevor chinesium still, run it vertical and packed for simple reflux or run it emoty and horizontal for pot still mode. I like it cuz of the screen at the bottom...

Re: Dibosh CM Reflux still from China
Heck I got a version of this still from Amazon a while back. It was a good $110 or so cheaper than buying the parts I wanted individually. A little mix and match with parts I have on hand, came up with a good lil still with a gin basket of sorts. So far I've only cleaned/degreased, then did a vinega...

Re: sweetfeed whisky
Spent a few hrs a day for a couple days, read the first 38 pages of this thread, didn't see any mention at all of mixing this recipe with Rad's all bran recipe. Also read his thread. Figured I'd try a bit of an experiment. Got me a few sacks of each that I get locally, a lot better than the tractor ...

Re: What Would You Build With This?
That's some heavy stuff out there bud. Out here in the oilfields, we have some projects going on that run 18" schedule 10 316. It's pretty thin, usually dented on the ends when it gets delivered and handled with a gradall. With what you're able to get, a stainless fermenter with a couple O-lets...

Re: sweetfeed whisky
Ain't a professional here but when I first ran it I got similar results. Was a lot hotter abv for abv compared to ujssm I've made. Mixed the 2 of em, ujssm to sf 50/50, came out damn tasty

Re: First time.... Sorta
Been a while since last update, been reading lots of different things on here, making mistakes and learning. Found out I'm not as good at soldering as I am at stick welding! Anyhow, got me a 15 gallon keg, a SS spool with ferrules on both ends, some Copper fittings and a 10ft stick of 3/4. Since my ...

Still-stirrin, I run a small little China still about 5 gallon volume, but I ferment for myself and others in the area that like the stuff.

Re: 3" or 4" column?
If ya got a dc stick welder, just hook up a tig torch, get some argon and regulator, run it dc negative with some silicon bronze brazing rod. For me, it's easier than silver soldering with a torch. The puddle freezes a good bit faster, is more forgiving on gaps, and also stronger.

Re: sweetfeed whisky
Did some mods to my still, added a lil gin basket in the vapor path between the boiler and the football shaped part of the column. Filled it full of cranberries and blackberries, boiler full of the sweetfeed wash. Got the football mounted vertically and filled with more berries. Figured the vapor go...

Re: Air stone in boiler?
Wow I didn't think it'd get this many replies! Was just wondering if there'd be any benefits or not. Some good information here in these replies that I wouldn't have known otherwise and also wouldn't even know how to ask for said info haha! Was I correct in asking here compared to other parts of the...

Air stone in boiler?
First off, I did a search and read for about 45 minutes and didn't find what I was looking for. Anyhow, I was wondering.... Would there be any benefit to plumbing a stainless airline into a boiler and having a stainless airstone at the end of it? Run it off an aquarium pump outside. Maybe make it st...

Re: sweetfeed whisky
Whelp, here's my spirit run of the sweet stuff, do small runs in my chinesium still in the chicken coop haha! Hearts run I've been collecting a half gallon with a tad bit of tails in the jar but it tastes better to me that way.

Re: sweetfeed whisky
Here's a pic as promised. Bubbling away quite nicely, starting gravitg at 1.085, used Red Star dady, bit of gypsum, some squeezes of lemon, etc. Curious question for anybody willing to answer... Do people on here start their own thread to post about their ferments and runs, etc or do ya just post wh...

Screenshot_20191204-132143_Chrome.jpg Just now starting my first ever run of this stuff, went on the search for the correct bag, finally found it after tweaking out on the tractor supply website and also did 2 exchanges there, found out it had pellets. FINALLY! I found the bag without pellets, it's...

Re: First time.... Sorta
Hahaha I know that bit at least, just didn't think dried out and ground corn had much oil in it, if at all.
As far as seed prep, I didn't chop or cut any of em, just measured out equal parts by volume and dumped em in with my sugar water. Probably not the correct way but just experimenting.

Idk about oil added, if that were the case, wouldn't I see oil either in the distillate or in the backset? Haven't noticed any on any run so far. When I do cleaning runs, no oils show up.

Re: First time.... Sorta
Yup, sunflower seeds, no salt or anything added to em. Can definitely taste the sunflower seeds and corn thru it a lot more than the other grains. On a side note, I bought my still instead of building it. Not much free time available for me outside of work to collect the pieces and build one, so I b...

First time.... Sorta
Okay so I've been lurking on here for years, finally bit the bullet and got a still and big fermenter, etc. Started ujssm from stogiefarts tutorial, easier read for me. Anyhow, I changed it up a bit. Instead of just corn, I did 6 different grains in equal parts to total up the same weight as in stog...

Thanks bud! Alrighty then, whelp, I like to drink mostly scotch but do have a good spot for Jameson irish whiskey, especially their IPA caskmates edition. Starting to get into liking corn whiskey, especially the stuff I've been making as of late. Not the best, but I feel as if I'm biased cuz I made ...

What's crackalackin everybody?! Hope everybody's doing well! I'm new to actually distilling, been lurking on this forum here and there for a few years, building my knowledge then forgetting a big chunk, then lurking on here again, and so on, and so on. Anyhow, rules said I can't talk about distillin...
