Re: Beer bottles for bottling?

You can always just check the dumpsters behind the bar also. You can sometimes find good bottles in the trash. Just be really careful of broken glass, if you decide to go dumpster diving. Good luck. SF Thanks - I normally have a understanding with the local bar owner so he keeps the nice empties fo...

Re: Beer bottles for bottling?

Ask your local bar tender to save you some empty liquor bottles. That is usually what I do, but we currently have a national prohibition and bars/pubs are closed by law (small town I'm in doesn't have a restaurant) - so transporting, buying eat alcohol is illegal for that matter police take a dim v...

Re: Just Post a Pick of your Rig

This is my small setup (Kentucky style still), it can hold ½ gallon of wash.
The other is my 20 gallon pot mostly for fruit washes.

Re: What'd ya'll make today?

I got a mini (3 liter) pot still today - mainly for making gin and to play with weird ingredients. Did a sacrificial run (put some skeeterpee through the still) today and tried to see if I can make cuts on such a small still. If it is legal to brew beer there, you could just say it is for a homebrew experiment...

Re: Old but new again

Interesting setup.
Just a question, what type of lids are you using on the mason jars? Looks kinda like they are sealed with flour paste?

Do you have a link to the still you are referring too so members can evaluate it. image.png https://www.banggood.com/2GAL-or-3GAL-or-5GAL-or-8GAL-Moonshine-Still-Spirits-Kit-Water-Alcohol-Distiller-Boiler-Home-Brewing-Kit-Stainless-Steel-DIY-p-1484269.html?rmmds=search&ID=6175909&cur_wareho...

Chinese still worth it?

Hi, I'm looking at getting a small still just to play around with different washes and flavors. It gets a bit expensive to make 10-20 gal washes that are not something I'd like a lot of. Does anyone know if the Chinese stills that are basically a stainless pot with a copper worm attached can make de...

Hello from South Africa

Hi, I'm from South Africa. I've been distilling a few years, generally use a 25 gal copper pot still when distilling. Here in South Africa it is legal to distill for home consumption as long as you register the still and pay a yearly fee of $1. I'm a avid homebrewer and make wine in small batches. M...
