Re: What'd ya'll make today?

OEG.jpg Wax sealed a dozen bottles OEG for Christmas gifts! You are not going to believe this. We had a heatwave on the weekend, got up to 42 celcius but my stash is under the house where I thought it was cool, not cool enough it turns out. one of the lids of my OEG popped off, wax split and off it...

Started another batch of Ted's FFV! :-) You cant go wrong with Ted's FFV I have read a number of times that you can't use the airlock as an indicator of activity and that is true but this morning, I went to check on my TFFV and there was no activity on it whatsoever. Tested the SG and it was under ...

My tip, go for 500ml bottles instead of 750ml for gin etc if you are giving them as gifts. They look pretty similar in size and you get more bottles out of each run!

I've been through most of the thread, but need some clarification. If I am going to put the botanicals in the boiler after macerating for 24hours and put the citrus in the vapor path. Do I put the citrus in the maceration also and then remove it? Great question, I want to know the answer myself! I ...

That reminds me of a while back when I was younger and stuff was funnier, I would fart in bed and the wife would yell and leave or whatever. presuming diluted down to less than 40% correct? I know it probably goes without saying but you have a lot more experience than nearly all of us.
Wrong.

I use the same abv that Odin recommended for his Easy Gin.
Sorry, not at maceration, when you distilled is what I meant

I've never macerated for longer than 24 hours and always run with the botanicals in the boiler, basket, or Carter Head. For a Carter Head run, all of my botanicals are in the Carter Head and there is clean, clear, spirit in the boiler. presuming diluted down to less than 40% correct? I know it prob...

I did a side by side taste test with some London Dry and the London Dry was a little smoother but mine had more gin flavor. What is left in the boiler & thumper after you are done running is backset. Generally scrap it but it can be used for a sour mash/PH adjustment for the next batch. Its also a good weed killer. That is one thing that I hadn't read before, it would have saved a lot of my plants! I thought it would be...
