Re: Cleaning run

Sorry bushman, every time I upload photos they turn sideways. As far as a first run I wanted to make a neutral spirit and flavor it. Still reading up on how to do all that.

Cleaning run

Finally got it all together, did my vinegar and sacrificial runs. Played with vapor temps and tried some different things creating scenarios and learning to correct them. Pulled 7 jars, out of 3.5 gal of sugar turbo wash. I learned a good amount about how it all works and I can’t wait to do a real r...

Re: First boka build

Yep, both plates are in there. I based the flow off my outdoor spigot, the first coil I made didn’t flow great so I made this one. I read the ideal height is 36”- 48” and this one is 48” to the bottom plate, but this is type M copper (I got it for a deal) and heavy. I’m wondering if reducing it to 2...

Re: My first condenser coil (second attempt)

Thanks! I plan on running a gas burner for now. When I can source a certified pre owned keg I will go electric. I appreciate all the good info on here.

My first condenser coil (second attempt)

Hello all, finally got around to remaking my condenser coil and this is what I came up with using advice from Otis. I made a single coil from 1/4 tubing 10” long and 21 coils. It flows 1.5 gpm and i am much happier with the way it turned out.

Re: My first attempt at a condenser coil for a boka still

I haven’t drilled a vent yet, i got a little ahead of myself. I’ve never ran a still so this will be a learning experience all the way through. I made a 5gal batch of sugar wash and turbo yeast as my sacrificial run, it’s right at 20%. I’ll be sure to take my time with that condenser, I may try to m...

Re: My first attempt at a condenser coil for a boka still

I did a flow test, I pushed 1/2 gallon in 1 minute. Seems a little restricted but it flows. I’m going to run a propane burner for now, I’ll eventually upgrade to a electric setup.

My first attempt at a condenser coil for a boka still

7BDC7C93-46DB-4660-B75C-397BA12421F3.jpeg So today I attempted to make a condenser coil for a boka column and I’m a little disappointed and at the same time a touch proud. I filled it with water and solder the ends (this worked well on a larger diameter), made a crude version of a coiling rig and w...

New distiller

Thanks for adding me! My name is Jeff and I’m new to distilling. I have been brewing all grain beer for several years and decided to give distilling a go. 8)
