Re: Easy sugar shine with napa cabbage Aka vegan organic vodka
2 years and still going strong. Damn if this isn't the easiest sugar shine recipe :D take all of about 15 minutes to make and a solid week to finish fermentation everytime. I lost count but 2 years 1 every week is more than 100 ferments with zero failures, even with expired angel yellow, just took a...

Re: No Mash No sugar
I've been taking the leftovers, giving it a good rinse a few times, then dry it in the sun and feed it to the pigs. Not sure if I need to go through all that trouble, I was just worried it might make them sick if I didn't rinse it clean/er

https://en.angelyeast.com/videos/2527.html According to the website blue is the new yellow I know angel has changed colors and their packaging before ( baking yeast sugar tolerant has gone from white to brown and now gold) ingredients look the same. I haven't tried the blue, I'm guessing it's the sa...

Re: Sugar wash, Angel Yeast
I did... Right above with my follow up.. Short answer will it work with sugar... Yes... Do you get a better result compared to regular bread yeast.. No But it will process both the starch and sugar together during the fermentation.. So you will get an added boost by combining those for sure Sorry if...

Local shop has this for about $15 so I thought I might give it a try for Sake rather buy the koji seperatly. . I know it's says it's for soju, Baiju Ect, but yeast balls work just as well for that..

Re: Sugar wash, Angel Yeast
I think a couple years ago when I first got some (angel yellow Label yeast) I did something like ujssm with chicken feed powder and sugar with yellow... (the angel yellow Label yeast) And it fermented like crazy but being that the yellow (angel yellow Label yeast) cost 3x more than the Gold angel go...

Re: No Mash No sugar
Impressive is all I got to say. From my 16liter wash I got 4 litres of low wine 4/16x40% = 10% wash... That's impressive considering I did basically nothing and being the first go at it The spirit run fro 2 washes gave me about 2 litres of keepers as well as another 2.5 feints so about 4.5 total not...

Well, after reading this thread twice, I think I'm going to give YLAY a try and see what kind of trouble I can get into! Anyone have a decent source for the US other than Ali so I can get it faster without having to pay the $40 per 500g that Amazon wants? That's a lot of $$$ it should be more like ...

so does anyone on the "no mash no sugar" method use regular "cracked corn" without any milling? I think that's what I used??.. Being this is my first go at it. I just bought chicken corn meal.. It's about the size of sand pebbles , they do have different grades, like 1-7 ..I gue...

Re: No Mash No sugar
Back at it! After a year of not distilling anything due to a big move I finally got a fire lit under me by my coworkers to have something to sip on. Oat whiskey. I still had 4 packs of Angel yeast, they seem to be fine after a year. I got a bag of rolled oats and poured 15 gallons of boiling water ...

Re: Easy sugar shine with napa cabbage Aka vegan organic vodka
I would say most here have tried and moved on from sugar washes - simple and easy maybe, smooth and tasty? Well compared to what? It's at the bottom of the list for me. I wouldn't think a pinch of cabbage is Haters gonna hate No hate. I sure make my own batches of sugar shine. (I use spent grains f...

Re: Easy sugar shine with napa cabbage Aka vegan organic vodka
I also want to add that I don't mix heads, hearts and tails. Out of 6 litres total, I just pull the central 2 litres. I then take the remaining 4 litres to do a feints run later. That's why IMO it's smooth...and at 50+% after adding water ... no burn...no sting... No harsh vodka mouth feel.. Works v...

Re: Easy sugar shine with napa cabbage Aka vegan organic vodka
I do one every week. Never failed yet after several hundred batches. Watered down to 50% and a shot a bottle from the freezer is great. Smooth, no sting and slightly sweet. If I add wood it's also good and more like whisky or rum rather than vodka. So it works for both styles, So for me, it's just f...

Re: Easy sugar shine with napa cabbage Aka vegan organic vodka
IDK, the sugar I'm using is raw cane sugar. I also kinda follow a rum process by saving the 40%-20% tail to add back in as "rum oils" as well as 2 litres of "dunder" to the spirit run. So I guess it's sugar shine vodka white rum hybrid

Re: Simple Asian rice alcohol
Has anyone tried any of the other lines of angel yeast other than the yellow label? It’s hard to tell the difference sometimes but I would what differences they make in taste with the final distillates The only other angel yeast I've used is the beer yeast. BF 16 Lagar yeast. It tastes great for be...
