Re: Fixing a leak

I appreciate the input everyone and it was along the lines I was thinking. I cannot guarantee that no flux will get the whole way in as I know that is the issue we are trying to clean out. Ive got some mash I want to run for actual consumption so not having to do another vinegar and sac run would ha...

Fixing a leak

Hey everyone, I recently built a new part of my still room attach to my thumper and doing my vinegar and sac runs I noticed a pinhole leak. I plan to hit it with more solder but my question is if the solder (seemingly) will only be on the outside of the joint will I need to do another vinegar and sa...

I think you'll be pretty happy with that once you get some hose management in place for all them cooling lines.
Only done the vinegar rim but it knocked it all down

Re: First parrot build

Fill it with water, drop the hydrometer in and measure how much liquid it holds to better understand your “smear volume”. I bet it’s more than 250ml. ss You should put a small ball of stainless mesh in the bottom of of the main tube so when you drop the hydrometer in it does not break. Yeah that’s ...

That's a nice, well illuminated room and easily cleaned. How do you manage your waste water? Do you send it to a drain line above? Do you recycle water, have a floor drain or a sink with drain? I've seen some basements that have a 'lift station' to pump waste water up to a drain in the mail level a...

Ideally one would have a fairly clean, climate controlled space to mash, ferment and distill. But I'm finding that to be unachievable it seems. I mash outside, Ferment in a closet and distill in the garage. I do all my mashing in this room as I have a large mashtun and a keggle. The large container...

Mash tun

Simple mash tun build for me as I didn’t like my electric keggle set up. My keggle will serve well as a HLT and I believe would work well for single malt but for corn it just had too much empty space under the false bottom.
