Finally! I've been looking for more folks to say this stuff. The nutrients are scientifically derived as opposed to using whatever cheap sources folks can come up with!

Zapata,

You are correct. Coles was another source of cheating for us Canucks back in the day.

I looked at your paper, my eyes glazed over and I'm hoping someone can break it down for me.

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't bayanus the generic term for "Wine Yeast"? Then within that terminology there are numerous stains to sort out for use? Companies like Lalvin etc list multiple yeast strains identified under the Bayanus name, with variants under it? If this is correct, it mak...

For some reason I can't zoom in on the pic. My issue I'm sure. Let's keep in touch. If I bring stuff in we can likely work together. Might look at glacier tanks etc. Tri Clamps are great and you can never have too many. I haven't done the math on the elements, but I'm guessing bigger ones are likely...

He'll get you on the right path.

Best of luck.

I forgot to add that while yeast prefer simpler sugars, they can ferment a number of different ones. However, many yeast to struggle to ferment more complex sugars if simpler ones are introduced. Of course this is hardly a factor with sugar wash.

kiwi bruce is dead on. while sucrose works it is technically easier for the yeast to use inverse. To build on this, any stressors to yeast will increase off flavours/byproducts. Stressors include pitch rate, ABV (tolerance to high amounts), temperature. Moreover, each strain prefers different fermen...
