Re: Making a mash from Fruit Cocktail cans
I support anyone doing anything with free fermentable supplies. All I would say is set expectations low so you will be pleasantly surprised if it turns out well.

Re: Making a mash from Fruit Cocktail cans
Stumbled upon this and I'm curious how it turned out, got any updates DisLexi? Yes I do! I read this somewhere before, and it really stuck with me after spending a good amount of time on that rum. Put shit in, get shit out. It smells like old fruit cocktail, it tastes like it too. I used backset fr...

Making a mash from Fruit Cocktail cans
My wife is cleaning out our pantry and found 12 cans of fruit cocktail. For the people who don't know, it's basically a fruit medley in syrup.
I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for how to prep it/ what to add to make something to distill.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: How Long To Wait After Ferment
I don't bother clearing apple because I doubt clearing makes much difference. If it does, you would have to do side by side runs to find out which suits your tastes best. Study up on how to do apple stripping and spirit runs before you start distilling, as it is not quite the same as for sugar wash...

Re: How Long To Wait After Ferment
It would be worth waiting. But, don’t forget what it is...apple cider! And so, you’ll be making an apple brandy, which will be best if aged a while in a lightly toasted oak. Give it plenty of time tho, so it is best to start another ferment as soon as you can, even a sugar wash or molasses wash. Th...

How Long To Wait After Ferment
TLDR: I have apple cider that just finished fermenting, do I need to wait for it to settle out, or can I just run it. This is my first post, other than the introduction post. Please realize that I have tried my best to search for an answer before posting this. I have a memory disorder, so it makes i...

I have been just reading everything they have posted in my down time. I have a memory disorder so it tak...

I am also in WA! We should see if we are close to each other, as I always am looking for a fermentation buddy!

Hello! Homebrewer turned Home Distiller here
Hello lovely people! I go by Lexi, as I am dyslexic, and my usernames usually are “dyslexics untie” but I usually mess it up so Lexi it is. I am located in the northwest of NA. In my day job I work with individuals with disabilities. Now for the reason I am here and my experience so far. There is a ...
