Re: Jokes

For Valentines Day, I decided to get my wife some beads for an abacus.

It's the little things that count.

They sure are a quick breed. They don’t stay alive by standing around.

I had one come within 20 yds while I was bow hunting this fall but I couldn’t get a shot at it.

I don’t have any experience with that product. Folks here have reported positive experience with that vendor. Keep in mind that there is a huge backlog of products coming into the US from China at the ports. You don’t list your location so I don’t know if that is relevant.

It’ll still make good rum. Just think of it as your molasses and some of your sugar addition.

Re: Fermentation Gravity Readings

Try spinning the hydrometer really fast. Grasp the top between your thumb and forefinger and let it rip. That should spin off most of the bubbles.

Alternatively you can just wait and they’ll eventually disappear

Welcome Mark!

As you’ve likely figured out, this place is a wealth of great information. Sit back, pour a glass, read and learn. I’ve found the folks to be very friendly as well.

Enjoy and don’t strain your back shoveling your snow.

New still, build complete

Hey guys and gals, Good evening (or morning for our Aussie and NZ friends)! I built a 2” Boka this week using the wisdom shared here. The build was an interesting process. I previously have struggled with sweating copper. I watched a few YT videos and refined my skills. I will say that this build we...

Re: Newb checking in

Thanks! There are plenty of options and lots of decisions to be made, that's for sure. Fortunately I have a good level of experience with the mash and fermentation portion of the process. I have a nice electric HERMS system that will work great for that part. I'm learning all the additional terms, p...

Newb checking in

Hello friends,

I'm a long-time brewer and wine maker from the Great Lakes region checking in. I don't have a still (yet) but I'm enjoying the reading and learning here. Thanks to all the wise and experienced folks who are willing to share their nuggets of information with the rest of us. :D
