Xnerd, can i come help with the deer problem too?? in my state the deer are almost GONE in the state forest/gamelands.. i have a dozen or so that live close to my house, but that's like shootin yer pets, so i don't hunt here.. trips to montana, british columbia, ect really made me lose alot of inter...

if yer stillin you'll probably find that a alcoholmeter is much more usefull than a hydrometer, especially when it comes to diluting to a certain % for tasting/consuming..
what kinda still are you running anyway ?? sounds like you were running kinda fast..

aaaahh, thats what i was wondering, makes sence, was hoping someone would read this that actually made some and could explain how they did it and how it turned out....... we'll see i guess..

thanks dndr, they have ginger tasting/flavored mixtures using vodka and neutrals, but i would think that ginger brany would be made the same sorta way as say a peach brandy, maybe i'm goofy ??
i can't seem to find any discussions about it ??

i try to keep mine between 174-180 for main body, once mine gets near 185 then i'm flirting with tails.. i collect the tails to around 195-200 then stop cuz there pretty stinky by then... my unit is 3"x42" copper column (insulated) with only 6" of copper mesh near top, twin leibig con...

you could keep a couple of gallons to add to your next rum wash for a heavier flavored rum..
185 seems a little high to me, but i don't know what your rig is or how it works, or where your taking that reading..

i just saw a BIG ol copper soup kettle last week in a customers house that looked brand new, i asked him about it, him and his wife started to clean/polish it by hand, after a few days of that they started searching for a better option... they took it to a guy that kinda sandblasted it, not with san...

if not ya might wanna slip a piece of insulation between the two..
that will keep your vapor stable no matter what you do with your coolant flow....

sorry to hear that, i dunno what's wrong ?? after 7 runs i'm sure you know how to "drive" your still by now....... only thing i can think of is weather you have your column insulated or not ?? my 1st run with my tall column was not insulated, i had to run the heat so hard that i was gettin...

i don't think he collected it all in one container....... least i hope not ??

wow, paul, i'd say you got lucky, i woulda thought you'd really get your balls busted for asking those kind of questions here... nice replies fellas......... not too harsh.... but their all right, you need to do a LOT more reaserch before you start to dabble in fermenting/distilling.... have fun.......
