Re: SPP packing weight... possible problem
I have a 36"X 3" ss CCVM column. I went with the 1/10th of the column for the diameter of the packing(.300") Sorry, metric guy here. .300" makes 7.62 mm in diameter. That's too large for such a short column. For a 2" column 1 meter long either 3.5x3.5 mm or 4x4 mm is recomm...

My first beverage tinted with butterfly pea
I've got a pack of Thai blue tea (clitoria ternatea, butterfly pea). So I decided I'd tint my homemade sambuca light blue... The recipe on the pack says, "put 10-20 dried flowers per liter of beverage, infuse for 2 weeks, filter the flowers out". I put 12 flowers per liter (seemed not too ...

Re: My first all-feints run through CCVM, obviously no good... twice.
It all looks good to me, only thing I can think is that maybe 1.8L per hour is a bit fast for 2 inch still, however your high ABV isnt indicating that your running to fast, to fast it would be lower I would think. I am running at 30 ml per 10 minutes - that is 180 milliliters per hour, not 1800. Lo...

Re: My first all-feints run through CCVM, obviously no good... twice.
What ABV is your CCVM pulling? is it packed properly with mesh or other packing? is it insulated ? At what speed are you pulling product from the still?...how many Ml in 10 min for arguments sake. what size column...length and diameter. Without knowing those things its very hard to say. It's pullin...

My first all-feints run through VM, obviously no good... twice.
So okay, I've collected about 20 liters of feints at 26% ABV. These were mostly tails, plus some failed experiments to make homemade cognac, plus some low wines I kept aside and forgot about, etc. There were no heads in there - I always dump heads separately to use as sanitizer. Why not put it throu...

Hi all!
Hello from Russia.
I am relatively new to the hobby (done less than 10 runs, mostly sugar wash followed by neutral spirits, followed by gins/liquers).

Re: Gin recipe botanical quantity advice.
Angelica, grapefruit, lemon myrtle, lemon aspen, mango, green cardamon, vanilla and black pepper. I use hints on quantities from here, gin always comes out nice: https://www.lovebrewing.co.uk/guides/gin-recipes-using-botanicals/ So I'd use the following quantities per litre for a base: 1 part junip...
