Re: Vapor from spout
Yes, Water is good for extinguishing an alcohol fire. Alcohol is only flammable at around 50% ABV or above. Dilute it down below 50% and it no longer burns. You have cold product coming out with the “vapor”. It sounds more and more like a scorch. Have you looked inside of your boiler? You will like...

Ive considered using caulking that I have around, but I'm wary of trying it and getting some shit in my mash. Is there a food grade silicone I can buy, or am I overcautiou...

Brazing Material

I tried finding it online, but im not quite the best at all that. i also tried calling the local welding outfit, no clue. For reference: its a beer ...

Sealing Issues
I have a pot still I have been working on for some time. Recently I have been having issues with getting my lid to seal, and I am looking for ideas. I reckon coming to the experts is the best thing to do. The lid has a flange that rests of the boiler, and a lip that extends down inside it. I do not ...

Good Evening
I am glad to have found such a forum of like minded hobbyists, and, after many months of lurking, I am glad now to be a part of it. I hope to gain much, and share what little knowledge i have as well. I operate a homemade copper pot still and most generally cook my liquor over a fire. I am not much ...
