Re: sweetfeed whisky

Just did a stripping run last night of a sweetfeed (corn, oats, barley, molasses) from a local grain mill here in Idaho. I toasted about 30% of the grains prior to fermenting because I really like the toasted oats subtleness. Stripped 14 gal in my pot still and thumper, and going to strip off anothe...

Re: What'd ya'll make today?

Ran a 4th generation UJSSM that is CROW flavored. It was very rye heavy coming off the spout, probably because the corn is starting to be spent from the 1st generation ferment. This is one of the best tasting spirits I have had come off the still white. It tastes like marshmellowy corn whiskey. I am doing 2nd Gen now (first sour m...

Re: Apple Brandy Recipe

I love this recipe. My family and I acquired a little farm that has peaches, plums, and about 5 different varietals of apples on it. So last Fall I filled up a 55gal barrel with Golden delicious, Gala, Granny Smith, and a few Fuji’s to make this brandy. It turned out excellent! Followed to the T, wi...

Hello from Idaho!

Hello everyone from Boise area Idaho! New to the forums, but have been studying and researching from this site for over a year. I have a 12 gal pot still and 5 gal thumper, which I have ran several corn whiskeys on. We have a small apple/peach/plum orchard, so I have recently ran my first batch of a...
