Banana mash
Hello everyone. I am a new expat from the USA to Panama. I bought a home with loads of fruit trees and I have the Panamanian equivalent of zucchini (bananas) growing everywhere. I am hoping that someone can make some recommendations as to a mash recipe using my abundance of bananas. I have two 60l S...

Re: How to clean salvage copper pipe
BlueSasquatch,
Nope on the keg. For me buying a new one is the way to go. But cleaning stainless should be a whole lot easier. Put in a 6" ferrule in the top and scrub away.

Re: How to clean salvage copper pipe
BlueSasquatch, I used a 5 gallon bucket and probably put in approx. 2/3 cup of citric acid (just shook some in). I put enough hot water in the bucket to get the citric acid dissolves well then topped it off. I left mine in for 24-48 hours and it was both nice and pink on the outside and inside. Hope...

Re: Propane to Electric conversion
Yummyrum and Salt Must Flow,
Thank you for the kind words. I am also in the process of a new copper build. So, I decided on multiple upgrades to my equipment. Mainly done while my new knee gets stronger.

Propane to Electric conversion
Everyone, Well, I have to say that I am extremely pleased with how this conversion turned out. I used the pull thru ferrule tool from BrewHardware and was able to install and solder a 1.5" tri clamp ferrule thru the wall of my boiler. Extremely simple to do. Now just figuring out why my control...

Re: How to clean salvage copper pipe
Deplorable,
I truly appreciate the help with this build. I will start a new thread and document it. I think I will only polish it once as it will be hidden behind pipe wrap.

Re: How to clean salvage copper pipe
Well, I actually used a combination of all of the suggestions as the pipes were pretty grungy but I think they turned out nice. Pink and clean inside as well.
Thanks all,
Lefty

Re: How to clean salvage copper pipe
Some stuff I have acquired was quite corroded inside . One method I used was to stuck the Copper tube in a PVC pipe a little larger in diameter with a end cap glued on it . Filled it with Sulphuric acid diluted about 20:1 . IE , pour 50mls of acid into 1litre of water . ( never the other way … it e...

Soak a scrubby with this and pull it through a few times. Twist while pulling/pushing.
Cleans it up a treat

How to clean salvage copper pipe
I just sourced some 2” copper pipe from a local metal recycler. Now I need to clean it. I have a handle on taking care of the outside of the pipe but the interior seems “greasy” in places. I figure the first step will be to degrease them all first, then I am using a rough AO coated 2” wheel welded t...

Re: Best place in the US to source copper pipe and fittings
Thank you to everyone who responded. I was able to get 3 sticks (totaling 10') of 2" type L at my local metal salvage for $55. Far cry from the $232 at the plumbing supply. Love to save money. Now for fittings, etc and a bunch of cleaning and polishing on these salvage pipes.
Be well,
Lefty

Best place in the US to source copper pipe and fittings
Hello all. I am in the process of sourcing materials for my first CCVM build to replace my current setup. I am wanting to find a good and hopefully reasonably priced place to source my 2" copper pipe and fittings from. Anyone have any suggestions? My local Home Depot no longer carries 2" c...

New guy here from N. Idaho
I am a pretty new distiller and the information on this site has been invaluable. I’ve made a few neutral spirit and all grain runs that I think turned out well but I still feel like I have just scratched the knowledge surface. Looking to be more efficient in my process and setup. Currently my keg s...
