The Auto Heads Collection seems to me "Collect X amount of the first drops" and call it Heads . it looks like they come to this calculation based on their "fermentation kit" that they sold . even if that's true the problem is not everyone use their fermentation kit and you'll fin...

Re: Air Still Pro Reflux With Air for Cooling ? What you think

Seems like a gimmick to me… especially the automatic foreshots collection. The heads and fores cut should be determined by taste and smell, not a gadget. Also, 90% purity isn’t that great either. The standard air still is cool for making gin and other macerated products, but that’s where it ends fo...

Hi fxaddicted. Perhaps try using taste/mouth feel to cut out the heads/tails. I can and often do make my cuts by taste alone because my nose does not always work well either. Here is my method, assuming you collect in jars like the beginners guide to cuts process thread: First thing to know is that...

Re: Should i care about cuts in this situation ?

Lazy cuts will reveal themself MORE as you dilute the alcohol because your sensitivity to the off flavors will be less neutralized by the higher proof. As you approach pure water (seltzer water in your case), your taste threshold will be more acute. So, yes … you should care about (good) cuts MORE....

Re: Should i care about cuts in this situation ?

i'm a bit confused by this thread. can you post more about the anticipated recipe you are hoping for? A hard seltzer to me would be....make the cleanest neutral spirit you can, meaning it would be in the range of 95% and add your preferred pre-flavoured sparkling water to dilute to 15% (or whatever...

Re: Can 0.025 Micron Cartridge remove Ethanol ?

Ethanol is a funny animal. Yes, the molecular weight number says it’s 3x the size of a water molecule but it’s permeability and rejection through membrane filtration is far from absolute. When it comes to the production of hard seltzer beverages we are typically utilizing some type of reverse osmos...

Not even close Your 0.025um is 25 nanometres. A water molecule is 0.28nm An ethanol molecule is 0.44nm You need another two zeros after the decimal point. The product your possibly looking for is called an Molecular sieve. Im not sure what your trying to do though, if you want to remove alcohol, di...

FX - Do you have any power control on the Air Still? If not, it's a worthwhile upgrade. Pick up a router speed control from your local big box store or Amazon and plug the the main power cord into that to vary the input power. You'll need to use an old computer AC cord to plug the fan into a separa...

I wouldn't run anything containing ethanol through it. I make neutral with a reflux still. I filter water using an RO unit (reverse osmosis). I dilute the neutral with RO water to 80 proof. I blend whatever I want to make a drink, carbonate and pour on ice. thanks . yeah but sometimes i need such s...
