Re: Insulating a column
If I may, I would like to know more about ambient temp in relationship to a 4" 4 plate bubblecap CCVM on a 25 gal copper pot with a edelmetall burner. Logically(to me) it would not make sense to keep the column insulated throughout the run because of the temp interference with the reflux proces...

Re: corn prices.
Just thought I would pass on another challenge of brewing in the north. Cracked corn here is $ 53.00 / 22 KG bag or $ 1.06 a pound. I can get the same for $ .18 cents a pound if i drive approx 1500 km down into Alberta. Or pay the freight and find some place to store 250 - 500 kg of corn. 10kg sugar...

Re: Hook Rum
I have run about 10 or 12 batches of Hook, However i just started to utilize a 16 gal ss Gas One pot for fermentation. Hook recipe is a 60 liter run. When I do the math that is equal to 13 gal and that fits my pot just great. My concern is my abv has jumped from 1.07-1.08 . I have made 4 13 gal wash...

Thank you for your time haggy. My run time was 5hr 15min. The pot temp was 92c (195f+-). after rubbing the second last jar in my hands the smell and the feel were off and the next day the smell was still a little off. My first concern was the heat @ 195f my cold water supply had diminished to nil . ...

Re: Loaded Thumper
Hey Kareltje, the first 2 were smaller sp runs 8gal 40% to the boiler and 2gal 40% +- and 2gal wash in the thumper. I really should not say they were not the same because I never checked. Nor did I even expect it. I have only about 4 months with this still and about 3 months with a 8gal vevor. So I ...

Thanks, I think if the still had one more option I would marry it. The most confusing part is I shut down at 62% . When I run without the thumper I start at 62%. Now i strip with it.
