Re: Best yeast to use?
I appreciate what you are saying but you really need to lighten up a touch. I'm in no hurry, I just wanted some friendly advice. I'm clearly in the wrong place. This is a site that is unsuitable for people who expect a friendly source of guidance from some extremely experienced and talented distill...

'Rad14701' There's no need to patronise. I have read your many many links and sifted through information. I don't need to be spoon fed, I was merely asking a question which I don't feel was clearly answered for me in the aforementioned texts. This attitude of yours does nothing to help aspiring dis...

Re: This is driving me nuts
I can't think of a good reason to put water in the thumper for a flavored product. Who told you that was a good idea? No one said it was a good idea but if you read on here you get everything from plain water to feints to wash to whatever. I am learning by reading asking questions and trial and err...

Re: Question About Making My Pressure Cooker Still...
Step One: Get rid of the pressure cooker... Seriously, it sounds like you're putting the cart before the horse because if you've done enough research here in the forums, rather than YouTube and other sites, you'd know that a pressure cooker is not the right tool for the job... I'm not going to get i...

Re: NEW REFLUX CONDENSER DESIGN
The plans that your signature links to are not what I had in mind @rad14701. My idea was to replace a wrapped double helix coil at the top of a VM or LM COLUMN. Does it have enough surface area? Its 9" long and will be surrounded by copper mesh, open to the atmosphere on top. So you're thinking a l...

From what I've read silicone is as good or the next best thing to PTFE. You didn't read that here... :problem: The term "silicone" is somewhat generic... Many different compositions, catalysts, temperature ratings, chemical tolerances, etc... That's why we frown on the use of silicone across the bo...

You're going to drive yourself crazy until you realize that you get what you get... Far too many variables to think you should be able to get the exact same amount of spirits from the exact same recipe... I gave up on that concept many many years ago... Repeat after me, "You get what you get!"...

Why would you...??? Foreshots are roughly based on the amount of boiler charge unless you also charge the thumper with wash, essentially increasing the overall charge volume... Your cuts are as big as they need to be, not measured by volume, temperature, or proof...

As stated, no notable difference in the shape of a fermentation vessel... I tried a conical once and still ended up racking wash out the top, down to the trub bed... There's no magic in a conical that keeps the trub from stirring into your wash if you try removing it out the bottom before removing t...

Talked to the VA Dr, His answer why they stopped my meds was real simple. They are cutting back on how much they prescribe. In the Dr's words, I have been using opiates "judicially" and only filling my monthly meds every 3 or 4 months. My guess is, after all these years, they finally gave up on try...
