Re: What'd ya'll make today?

Might also come out tasting like a dogs arsehole but isn't that the joy of this hobby? Maybe better we don't know how you'd draw that comparison... Actually dogs seem to like that flavour so who am I to judge? The dogs do that to try to get the taste of Turboyeast hooch out of their mouths...

For strip runs I don’t worry about appearance or smell/ taste. They often aren’t too appealing. Should be fine after spirit run.

I wouldn’t worry about the smell of a strip run. Spirit run will probably be fine.

Re: Double worm from one still pot.

My recommendation would be going to the new distiller reading lounge. There are lots of mistakes in your post. But take heart! You can get this down pat with just a little (more) knowledge and practice.

Also, run by the welcome thread and introduce yourself! Enjoy the hobby...

Re: Pumping Wash Into Still

If hose kinks or grain bed tight the negative pressure can cause theliquid to cavitate around the impeller and vapor lock. Maybe decrease your flow rate, if adjustable?

I use a Blichmann Riptide and love it. Fast and easy to prime. Handles hot liquids well.
Can it handle solids?
I don't think it would. Has a sealed impeller that likely would jam up...but I haven't tried it.

Then in the winter, fill the blue barrels half way with water, and put an aquarium heater and a small pond pump in there. Put the Brut cans inside the blue barrels - they fit perfect. Is anybody just putting an aquarium heater directly in the mash/ wash? I used to. Burns the grains around it, and d...

Are you able to get 2 still charges to fit in the 32g brute? I will be doing similar and filling boiler then draining boiling water into the brute over the cracked corn. That's why worried about the boiling water. Yeah I need to look into corn flour just afraid would be a hassle trying to strain. I...

I've found that if I get too aggressive with the heat up on barley washes, it will puke 5 or 6 gallons into the thumper. Anyone else experienced anything like that? All of my puking issues stopped when I began using a defoamer. Much better than oil, in my experience. I am using it. It makes a huge ...
