Welcome Dave! This is a great place to learn to craft a dram you will be able to be proud of.
I was in Dayton for several years after college, but I have been back in WV for well over thirty years.
Enjoy your stay!

Totally fascinating post! Thanks for pulling it back to life, Kiwi.
Yeast is a major element in the flavor profiles of each of our favorite whiskys, for that reason many distilleries carefully propagate and gaurd their own distinctive proprietary cultivar of yeast.

Re: Thoughts on using this as a condensor?

A cutoff wheel in an angle grinder should make cutting slots in the fins relatively easy. That style fintube usually has fairly stout fins. With slots, a fintube cold finger could make a slick condenser for the Dad300 condenser controlled still. Very interesting material. I am interested in how it w...

Welcome! Home brewing is a great foundation, research is next. To focus your study, decide what you really would like to make. If your want to make flavored spirits (brandy, rum and whisky/whiskey) think pot still. If you want to make fravorless spirits (vodka or neutral spirit) think column still w...

I nurse these tiny pours for hours and really savor the flavor. It is much more enjoyable that totally absta...
