Re: First AG -- URRV

Skow by intention I mashed with half the recommened water to be able to throw the rest of the water on to bring her down to pitching temp the same evening. URRV is Uncle Remus Rise Vodka, I just did not add the sugar to keep it AG. Yak, oh yes the Koji balls forgot that I could try to find some to s...

Re: First AG -- URRV

yeah , I know I didn't follow protocol. I tried to do it the way that would suit me the best with the tools I have, and since Vodka wash I'm not overly disappointed about the outcome, I rather try and fail on this one and know better for a whiskey mash than to waste my first whiskey try playing arou...

First AG -- URRV

So I'm pulling on the big boy pants and going AG. URRV because I need Vodka for my SO and to make some kaluha and Gin whilst my Whiskey matures to something palletabe. Now I'm a lazy git so will try to do it the way that suits me the best, I don't have the tools to follow the instructions to the tee...

Re: IKEA glass jars for storage and aging

just get the B&Q own brand PTFE, I think it's 0.69€ per roll.
Also if you want mason jars without the metal claps ( handy if you want to nuke age) best I've found is 3 for a tenner at TKmaxx or 4€ each in homestore and more.

Re: still porn

Mason Jar, I really like your aircooled condenser, saw it here a few months back and it really got the cogs turning.
Not that I need to go down that route, but I just liked how you took something that you basically were told would not work and stuck with it until you made it work for you.
Kudos

Re: Jimbo's Electric Conversion

Thanks for the input lads, much appreciated. Even though I do basic home wiring myself (plugs, sockets, light, etc) I'm still bricking it a bit about the 30 A plug, leaning towards a 3000 W element instead, I think I rather have a long heat up time over feeling nervous about a cable connection I mad...

Compared a 3 day 60 %cornflake to a 2 month 55% All bran.

I have a 32A feed for the stove but there is no plug for it and don't want a loose cable hanging about with the kids i...

I'm on my second PTFE gasket. I ended up doubling the cardboard then wrapping it with PTFE as the first one was too flimsy with just one layer of cardboard.
