I wouldn't say parrots should be given any great importance to your rig, but they are a great tool for the reasons given above.

Re: QUICK AGING / OAK CHIPS
Welcome to HD... JD Oak chips are used by a lot of the hobbyists here on the boards with some good results, but I've never heard of any simmering for 6 hours. Where I come from, simmering is a process that involves heat, a lot of heat. I reckon your steeping (soaking) the chips in your shine. The cl...

Re: newbie help first time all grain
As Dnderhead has pointed out, the malted part of the grain bill is only 8%, that will not be enough to convert the remaining 92%. 20% to 25% would be the minimum I would go for the malt bill. Extending mash times may help for an 8% malt, but for how long would you need to mash and would conversion h...

Re: Hey. Tomato paste in the birdwatcher recipe..
The tomato juice/paste has all the nutrients the yeast need.
I only use about 25% of the quantity mentioned in the original recipe. I make up the rest of the nutrient needed using this: Usually 1 teaspoon per gallon... Ferments out every time...
Hope it helps...
