Re: Can't afford a copper bottomed pot...
Seeing as you only run Corn in that still , it worries me that you are at high risk of that darn thing blowing up . The holes in the gaskets in those flexible Stainless tube are smaller than a corn kernel . Iff’n you have a foam up in that boiler and some of that corn floats up and gets stuck in the...

Re: Brewhaus liebigs
The responses pretty much confirmed my thoughts, so making it modular will be the better way. Yessir . Much more flexible and not locked in to one still . I’m sure though , that that brewhuas will be just fine for spirit runs , it will be too small for stripping ….. well you could run harder with a...

Re: Over thinking distillation
I think you just have to jump in and have a go . Now when I started , it was with a Home brew shop still . I followed the instructions and made some booze . So the instructions were very basic and left a lot to be desired , but I made some booze ……which also left a lit to be desired …. but I did not...

Solder the copper onto to the Brew kettle and put a big sight glass or Man way in the side of the copper for filling /Cleaning . Would also help with watching for foaming

IMG_0019.jpeg Well It was yesterday , but did spirit run on SBB Rum . 180litres worth , stripped in three stripping sessions over the last week. Using Thumper . Have been putting heads in Thumper ( with water down to 40ish ) and tails in pot with strip . This time I thought I’d try something differ...

Re: Simple Beer Keg Pot Still?
Usually I set aside about 3 hours per stripping run from start to finish and around 8hrs for a spirit run . Irrespective of boiler size or charge , these will be the same . This is why it is recommended to do several stripping runs and combine for a final spirit run . You save 16 hrs over doing 3 se...

I used Garden hoses and fittings for about ten years but are now using braided 1/2” lines with the BSP thread . I find they don’t leak and I only need to do them finger tight . I’m also keen on going double Thumper for Rum . So be keen to see your progress on this .
Agree with what AC said , PIDs are totally useless for Distilling but very useful for Mashing and Fermenting

Hello and welcome!! I started with a 5 gal Vevor. Make sure you get rid of all the silicone if you haven't yet. There are a few good thread on here for improving that still. Re: Simple Beer Keg Pot Still?
Cool . Think of your still head like a cast iron pan . Once you have “seasoned” it , (IE done an alcohol run through it ) , just a quick rinse is all it needs . Don’t scrub it back to bare metal after every use . In a similar way that the seasoning of a cast iron pan protects it from rusting , the p...

Lights will pulse on & off with the power setting you choose. It will flash slow at low power and will stay on at 100% power. Not correct. Depends if it is in Time proportional or Burstfire mode . Time proportional mode uses Mark/space and has a period of about 1second ( If I can remember when ...

Re: West Virginia makes it legal?
Is this legit? Maybe. Sometimes libertarian things happen by accident. A long while back, making wine and beer became legal at the federal level. Next step is for Homedistillers to be able to distill the beer and wine we can legally make. And that there is the whole joke of the matter . I prefer to...

During testing we cycled the relays 5 times per second (25times faster than what you can set in the settings of the device). We then overloaded the relays with 30amps (substantially more than what they are used.) We then cycled them on and off for months at this highly accelerated testing and confi...
