Re: Freezing Drink Bottles

Well it may cost a faction more as the compressor may have to run a little bit extra to bring the temp of the freezer back down when I first put bottles in. Water gives off a significant amount of heat when it freezes, much more than when it is cooled a few degrees But then again once the bottles a...

Re: get a pump

put a few frozen drink bottles in the bucket and you can run the same water around and around and around. Not a drop is wasted. Although you may not waste any water with that method, how much electricy are you wasting freezing water? I guess if I was paying for water and not electricy, I would use ...

My system of storage is a few cardboard boxes filled with bottles sitting in a closet.

If I ever got into barrel making, I would probably store stuff in an attic, or some uninsulated place. The expansion and contraction of the liquid due to temperature changes is part of the aging process.

Well, there's really no one place that's best to start learning how to make spirits. If you want to learn how to make a wash, a beer making group in your area can show you how to ferment like a pro. If you want to distill first, you can skip the whole fermentation process for a while by distilling s...

Be careful with feed molasses. Some of it contains preservatives that are harmful to yeast, and there are no FDA requirements to list the chemicals in feed molasses. I'm not saying it would be harmful for you to eat it, but it may be harmful to our favorite fungus, yeast.
