If you really have an endless supply of bakers yeast pitch a quarter cup of yeast. Starts and finishes real fast! I bought some in bulk and that's what I do.

Re: Fireball Cinnamon Wiskey

It tastes a whole lot like the cinamon heart candies they have around valantines day (around here anyway) If you know what I mean, I'd take a handful and dissolve them in water (boil?) to make a flavor syrup. Never tried it but I think that's how I'd go about it.

I took all my botanicals wrapped them in cheese cloth, then tied the top with string. This bundle I then hung right below the lyne arm of my pot still. It turned out great!!!!

Re: liebig condenser question

I have a PVC condenser and it leaks on one end no matter what I use to glue it. The problem is the copper heats and expands, when I heard this I though "A little wider shouldn't make a huge difference." However it also increases in length, a good centimeter or two. I can tell because I use...

Re: Scotch?

Going back to what you said Mikeac; I too live in a small flat, and have taken over the spare bed-room for my hobbies etc. I am not going to try malting my own grain....yet. I will be buying my malted barley from local brew-shops, and the cracked corn from somewhere else. There are some good, step-...

Re: Deathwish Wheat germ recipe

Just mixed some up last night and it took of like crazy, I probably have 5"-6" of foam on top of the fermenter! Has anyone added other grains like this to impart more/different flavor? I was wondering if 16oz of peated malt would work the same and maybe be a bit more like scotch? any thoug...

Malt: Sprouted grain, therefore containing enzymes which break starches into sugars. Is all the starch in malt converted to sugar or does it still have a high starch content? Scotch?

Well I'm not in Scotland, but Scotch (I like Glenfidich?) is what I'm aiming for. Unfortunately, this seems like a big step up from rum. I've done a little reading and this and may need a little help. So I'll start with terms: Single Malt whiskey: whiskey made from only one type of malt? Does this n...

I do all my "pant dropper" recipes with rum. I've got a cherry that's almost too good to drink (my proudest achievement I think :D ) and an apricot, which has been sitting for awhile and isn't much to be proud of at all  .

Looking at 1500 years is far to short a time scale to interpret global weather histories. Ice core samples give us data a hundred times farther into the past. It's scary if you take a look at the data. Huge fan of anything fiction myself, I get far to much reality from my physics text books (almost ...

That one was me, it also doesn't matter what units you use as long as you are consistent.
