Re: 40% neutral gone off? Got floaties

Ya want a crisp vodka from a basic pot let is clear and strip to low wines, run low wines slowish to high wines and do rough cuts then run your high wines at a slow spirit run speed and do precision cuts. If you want a dead neutral from a basic pot still marbles work best, fill ya mouth full of em a...

Re: Rum's I like.. and dislike

Ok I'll kick off a short list of Australian Rums, there are 40 odd rum distilleries here. Rum has a long history in Oz due to it being the main ration of the English Navy and due to a lack of hard currency rum was used as a tender from 1788 until at least 1810 and unofficially probably much later th...

Re: How does this look for a starting jar collection?

The jars ya wash out are definitely no good for aging, not even too sure about mason jars Stainless lid preserving jars are ok if the seals are made of cork or Teflon or can be wrapped. A lot of the older canning jars have glass lids and good seals for alcohol. Those bigger jars you got there no dou...

As others have said chill it right down and filter it before it can warm, what you get you might want to re-run as that is gonna have some real raggedy arsed tails in it

Anyone tried Fijian rum? Sorry I'm late to this party. Your post reminded me that I have some and just tasted it again. I love it. Do you know of any brands worth checking out? 20200606_203136.jpg Fijian Rum Co owned or partly owned by Amatil Coke brought out a Rum called Bounty (no doubt named for...

Re: Anyone else got the Wuhan?

So glad to read you are noticing improvement, weird how it effects folks differently. My aunty seems to have made an almost full recovery , uncle never caught it and her younger otherwise healthy friend passed away. Seems like it's just luck of the draw to some extent how each person's body will fig...

Re: The liar's bench

I read these stories and they remind me of my own young years which is confusing at first given a lot of the authors have a few years on me. I thought about this a bit and reckon I wouldn't be far off with my conclusion. I was told by travelers when I was a kid that we (we being rural Australia) wer...

Re: Anybody get any good deals lately?

Any idea what sort of wine Mch? I have great results using my old Italian oak barrels that use to age my home made port in. Other than rinsing and conditioning it with hot water I just started filling it with rum at around 68% and eventually the flavours melded perfectly

Re: australian distilling laws

Correct, this is why quite often the boiler was sold separate to the still. The states do vary in their wording concerning distillation and some states legislation is more vague than others. The ATO (federal legislation) deals with tax evasion and that is not vague, that is all spirits produced for ...
