Yup, roadkill's fair game as long as you see it go down.

Can't remember who sang/wrote it, but it's a funny ass song.

BR, read the post above by cart383. It makes no sense, and is just there to get the Casino link in their signature posted. Same with all their other posts. Either a person or a program is posting ads.

that's how I make my peach, corn whiskey (usually UJSM) and then the tater method w. peaches and sugar to flavor. got to play with it a while to get the right balance of whiskey, peach, sugar (not too much!!). damn, it is a fine drink when you get it right, age it even if just for a few weeks. gets ...

Sounds good, DBM, thanks for sharing the knowledge. I've got a 2 gal. barrel coming, but I think I'm gonig to leave the spigot anyhow. Gibbs says they pre-drill for the spigot if you order one with the barrel, unless you tell them not to. And all orders come with a bung, as you said. Good tip too on...

Awesome DBM, thanks for the info. So re: the spigot, now I'm thinking it's not such a good idea to have them pre-drill for it (they haven't shipped it yet). I can always drill it later myself, and would rather have the barrel be more water tight, be able to roll it on different sides, etc. Whatch th...

On the same note, will a wood spigot (bought one from Gibbs when I bought my barrel) work reasonably well as a bung, or is it not air tight enough? For some reason, Gibbs doesn't sell bungs, but there are plenty of other places to get them.

That's pretty wild Blueraven. You've got some cool experinces in the music world. I've an idea of what kind of peach he meant!! Mmm, I like them Ga. Sorry if I offended ya Gent... that wasn't my intent. No offense taken, thm, sometimes I hate message boards & email because it's so hard to convey tone in a message. Just meant to say the idea may have been hairbrained, but wasn't drunken (not that I don't have plenty of those too!!). One day ...

I'm on the same path, rocky_creek. Ordered a 2 gal. gibbs bro. barrel a few weeks ago. Just so you know, it will prob. take them a couple weeks to fill your order. Let's share notes as we go, if you like. What proof do you plan to put your likker up at? 65% or so? I'm interested to see how much volu...

First off, I agree THM the design of the standard barrel is pretty close to perfect and time-tested. But who said my idea was a drunken brainstorm? Just thinking outside (or inside, really) the box. As you can see above, it's even been done commercially before. And I do think it's viable for smaller...

Thanks for the good info, ya'll. I still haven't found the optimal amount of backset, but I agree that so far the more the better. Billy Joe (or should I call you Jim Bob?), the first hydro I ordered gave me a helluva time. Kept getting weird readings. Well, you shouldn't even have to cut the top off (unless you want to for cleaning and such). Sort of depends on what kinds of mashes you're going to run. You could charge (fill) the still through existing plumbing on the water heater, and clean it that way too (unless you're running messy mashes. An...

Howdy Squirreldog (I got a bird dog), how does your finished product taste? That's the real test. Sounds like you've got the basics right, anyway. Maybe a little heavy on the tails and heads, depending on how much you're keeping.

Good points THM and Chemist, the evaporation argument makes no sense.
