Re: finally got keg switched to 220 electric
Nice and cheap enought too! Do you have weldless taps on the keg? If not, for any who do, do they hold up well? GA Flatwoods no the couplings are soldered in with silver solder Very nice. I'm still running 110 but would like to convert. Could you post links to your parts and provide the wiring diag...

Re: sprits changed when I added water
Maybe to much tails but, ALWAYS add the alcohol to the water instead of adding the water to the alcohol. Learned that the hard way. It's a chemical reaction. Might clear and might not. Just wait and see.

Re: Crosby and Baker 9804A (DADY) Yeast
I have used DADY. Works very well with no noticeable off tastes. But, since bakers yeast is readily available, that's what I use now. My experience has been that DADY clears faster. But I'm in no rush either.

Re: sweetfeed whisky
I started my last ferment on 1/8/13 and I wanted to let it sit for an extra week to clear but I checked it today and it is anything but clear and it is actually still bubbling a little... it isn't bubbling through the airlock but if I open it.... it is still bubbling quite a bit. How long is the cl...

Re: sweetfeed whisky
I single run mine in my boka. Just a couple copper scrubbers and run at about 8-10 drips per second. Comes over with a clean sweet flavor. On gens 2 and after I add feints from previous run.bigbuck wrote:how will this recipe fair out in a 2" boka after it has been stripped???

Caramelized sugar?
I have a gallon of 130 proof about ready to come off the oak. Very nice tint to it now. Still has some bite to it and was thinking about using the sugar to help take the edge off? Thoughts? Advise?

Well, the best advise I can give with that in mind is just collect everything in jars and come back and make your cuts after you're feeling good.

Re: Ice water for the condenser?
I run a 15.5 gal boka. My cooling water comes from a 34 gal drum. Typically about half way thru a strip I have to add water from hose. Just put hose in, let it run and overflow til drum water cools and I'm good to go. Thinking about putting a radiator in my cooling line also.

Well, for me, I found propane easier to control. However, by going electric, this allowed me to be able to move my setup into my shop which allows me more privacy.

Use the hydrometer as a guide, not a bible. Typically 90% for me is heads. 87 or so down to 75 or so I collect in small jars and make cuts after airing. Like piss said, use your senses for fine tuning.
