Re: Safety of enamels and ceramics?

There has been concerns of lead in ceramic glaze for a very long time. There were several recalls of cook and dinner ware a few years ago for lead contamination. Use at your own risk. https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2017/12/08/563808879/can-your-ceramic-cookware-give-you-lead-poisoning As state...

Plumbing solder is supposed to be lead free now. I don't think any of the electrical solder I have is lead free. For sure all the old rolls of solder in my shop are not lead free. Purchase new solder after plenty of research to ensure leadfree. Global location could make a difference for availabilit...

Your question could be prompted by 1. a height problem. 2. a distance problem.

#2. could be solved as simply as a longer lyne arm, or takeoff tube. #1. not so much.

If you cut the pipe with a rotating pipe cutter the cutting wheel displaces copper at the

cut expanding the diameter. Use a straight edge to confirm a lip on the outside of the pipe.

file the lip off if it is present.

I have 3 sandblasters the nozzles are the same size, A pipe extension would not be hard to fab

or use The apparatus would be sort of sacrifical, but so are nozzles you only need to use it

once (hopefully). Does the ferrule weld look the same?

One of mine that is chipping is from macy's martha stewart collection. It is subject to a recall

because of the chipping. I tried starting in 2014 to get them to honor the recall, to no avail.

I still use it, and harass macys about a replacement 5 L. the other with chips is a german 10 L.

I use a dedicated piece of 1/4 inch copper refrigerant line to syphon my 5G Gibbs into a big stainless pot. When its almost empty, I flip it over the pot and let it finish draining. Very little loss to spillage, if any. If you add a short piece of copper and a bung sized cork with 2 holes in it you...
