Re: Mile Hi 220V 30amp Variable Controller Question
I have a Mile-Hi 240 volt 30 Amp controller, and also another one that I built from a "kit." Both work well. Since I already had an older 3-Prong 30 Amp "welder outlet", (and yes, I have an old "stick" welder, which I've had for over 40 years, plugged into it most of th...

I get my second vaccination shot tomorrow, (Thur.) Just wish my wife could get them too, but she's not eligible until the next Tier. And, fwiw, I didn't have any "symptoms" or problems from receiving the first dose. Just sayin'. I received the Moderna vaccine.

Yeah, I'm probably not more than an hour north of Bushman's place, but I had to shovel paths through the 10" we got yesterday. Snow sucks. I'm getting too old for that stuff.

Re: who likes to shoot?
Certainly not the Blackhawk, which is a nice piece as well, but my "5-hole" Charter Arms Bulldog XL in .45 Colt is actually lighter in weight, even when loaded, than my Ruger SP-100 5-holer in .357 Mag. They are both well built and pack a punch, but fully controllable. Especially with the ...

Re: List of trusted stills/ builders
Not an endorsement, and I have no affiliation with them, but I have bought a lot of the stilling equipment I own from Mile-Hi Distilling in Denver. I've always been satisfied with the quality of the products I've gotten from them. Not to slight any other purveyors of stilling equipment, and FWIW, I ...

Amongst my many guns, I also have a Glock 19. Early on, I too was skeptical of those "plastic guns," but I found it to be well made and reliable. The only thing I didn't care for on my older Gen 3 model were the molded-in finger reliefs on the front of the grip. They just didn't line up ri...

I get my 2nd COVID vaccination shot on the Feb 18th, (I'm 68, so I was able to get it with the "over 65 crowd," in Phase 1B,) but my child bride is only 60 so she isn't eligible to get her shots until they enter Phase 2B. She works for the school district. I don’t think school teachers ar...

Re: Temperature of Cooling Water
To my thinking, a 5 gallon bucket isn't going to cut it. You need a larger reservoir, (like a 50 gal. drum or rain barrel,) with the addition of a cooling coil, (aka radiator,) and a fan to blow through it to help dissipate the heat in your coolant return line. At least that would be a good place to...

Re: Cheep cooling reservoir
In addition to my plastic "rain barrel" coolant reservoir I added a home built cooling coil and fan that I conjured up to provide additional cooling to the water on its return trip back to the reservoir. Even with the large plastic drum my coolant temps would climb during my run. The fan/r...
Did your thumper inlet pipe have a tri-clamp fitting?
Yes, all my components, including both the inlet and outlet lines on the Thumper lid, have tri-clamp fittings. Re: Best hybrid still
IMO, modular construction is more versatile and cost effective. I have a 26 gal, a 13 gal, and an 8 gal. boiler, a Lyne Arm, a Plated Column, and a Thumper lid, and I can "mix and match" any and all of it in whatever configuration I want to run. Just makes sense to be able get more than on...

Re: Mile High Thumper connection
All the ends on my Mile Hi stuff have Tri-clamp fittings. I can run my setup as a plain old Pot still, with or without the Thumper in the line. I can just hook my Condenser directly to my Lyne Arm coming off the boiler, or hook the condenser to the outflow of the Thumper.

Re: CM Still Output Improvement Mods Mile High / Brewhaus PSII.
For my 26 Gallon Boiler and 4" plated column set-up, I use a large plastic drum as a cooling water reservoir so I don't waste water, and I built a radiator core with a fan that I attached to it for cooling the hot return water flowing back to the reservoir tank. I have a submersible fountain pu...

When you get ready to get a bigger mortar mixer, get hold of me. I need to down-size and reclaim some of my garage real estate, (to keep the peace with the wife,) and I haven't even used it, so it's hard to justify keeping it any longer. I bought it a few years ago, and it's still a virgin. Brand ne...

Fireball? You'd think that with all that sugar in it, it would stop your car right in its tracks. When we were kids, dumping sugar into someone's gas tank was a sure-fire way of disabling the car.Allmyexsliveinhell wrote:my accord runs on fireball

A lot of us up here in the Pacific Northwest occasionally get together and do a "group buy-in" on a whole pallet full of stacked 50 Lb. bags of Panella pure raw cane sugar, "right from the farm" so to speak. I bought 4 bags last time, and I still have quite a bit left. It makes v...
