Re: Steam regulation

i use prolly the simplest steam system that is possible. the boiler makes steam (duh) and is modulated through a ball valve, after the heat exchange there is a condensate trap that gravity feeds a reservoir. from the reservoir, water is pumped (back) to the boiler and has 2 check valves in the feed ...

welcome in, you and another new member potin sue have that t-500 in common....maybe you'll be able to swap tips and tricks. flavour is pretty simple, there is lots of advice here. basically what i found is water carries flavour, so the lower abv you distill at the stronger the flavours. i also found...

likely easier to look for a peated malt at a malt supply company in your country. import/export of dirt will likely prove problematic with the border patrol.

yeah, you want a vacuum breaker on that thing too. that will really scare the shit outta you if you pull the vacuum break....they scream loud. i use 15psi PRV on my supply to jackets and set the boiler to 11. popped it a few times throwing a valve closed quick, always an exciting blast of wet steam....

Re: Enzyme use question

i've used sebflo gl, the predecessor to visco seb.

tried it cold on the way up, mash in on the way down and at 100* on the way down to pitch temp. the last worked the best but it still only mitigated the rye slime, did not cure it. maybe 10% thinner? maybe a bit more.

Re: Where to age badmo barrels?

i keep my barrels in a sea can outside, it ranges in temperature from -45 to 35*C, i've had one leak.

not sure if temp had an effect, but BadMo's being made of dissimilar material may be of more concern. I think i'd have a spill tray bigger than the contents if it were in my dwelling.
