OK left field stuff.
I replaced one floating thermometer in the one wash tank with another to confirm temperatures.
My wash drums are next to a 1200mm fishtank. The thermometer removed from the wash rolled of the tank lid into the tank. I though nothing of it.
Two days later I observed very fine white strand on my tanks surface, remove the lid and they all emanated from the thermometer. I inserted a water skimmer to remove this fungus which it "did". This morning the fungus is back.
Any idea what this fungus would be?

Re: Fungus
I’d guess it’s more likely a lactic infection. If it’s a whiskey wash this can even be somewhat desirable.

In a fish tank, my guess is lactic infections are significantly less desirable….

I never fermented the water in my fish pond. But I do try to keep the pH close to neutral. I don’t imagine the fish tank would support much of a bacteria culture anyway.
