Bulk Feed Store Molasses Blend

Post by Broken Jug »

I recently found a feed store that sells bulk molasses with 35% sugars for $5.00 per gallon, but it’s not straight molasses, it’s a blend with Whey and 3% Glycerin.

I was told the glycerin is used as a thinning agent. The molasses is cane molasses.

The price is great, but not sure if I can make rum out of it since it has whey and glycerin in it?

I’m not a chemist, nor am I familiar with Whey or Glycerin

So my question is, will it work for rum?

I reckon 35% sugar is a bit low, most feed store stuff here sits under 50 but over that figure, the other ingredients not to sure on.
Use the search function for feed molasses, heaps of info in that, good luck :D

Put down your minimum sized wash for a spirit run and see how it goes.
