Gen 2 rum run

Post by MementoMori »

Hey group I am excited to start my second generation rum run. I learned so much from the group, I greatly appreciate all the advice. My recipe was what I had in storage for a while, might seem weird to some but fun for me.
5gal blackstrap molasses
5gal dunder
10lbs sugar
5lbs panela sugar
20lbs honey
Yeast nutrient powder why not
Dash Epsom salt why not

I had Omega Yeast Labs OYL057 Hothead Ale Yeast so I made a starter with that. Good temp range and alcohol tolerance. Keep you all posted cheers.

I don't know man. That's just too much. Not sure that will even ferment. Maybe if you added 70 gallons of water. Good God man.

It's a 55gal batch, my gravity reading said 1.075 so we will see I guess. My gamble is that I hope the yeast choice was a good one. I did a 4 liter starter with this as well, and I used plenty of yeast nutrient. I mixed it well with a wine degasser and my drill so hopefully it was enough. Keep you all posted.

Thanks Shine ✌. So I just checked on the wash and we have active fermentation. Bubbles everywhere!
