who likes to shoot?

Post by frodo »

my other hobby is target shooting.

got a buddy that just had some land clear cut. he gave me permission to set up a private range till his
pines that were planted, get up .

thats about 3 or 4 years of 500 yards to shoot

we only get to shoot out to 100 yards, because of trees around here, so this is exciting, to me

There is a great public range in Chaffee county co that has steel targets out to 1000 yards. Conveniently located between deer hammer in buena vista and woods high mtn distillery in salida. Not that you should visit the distilleries first.

I love anything that spits lead, but am partial to small caliber target shooting. Picked up 20k 22lr rounds right before they became scarce.

I am looking at upgrading my air gun to a RWS Diana .22 with a side lever. Its dirt cheap to shoot and I can hit a dime everytime under 75 yards. Buddy uses his down South to kill wild boars and coyotes.

No ranges over 500 yards near me that I am aware of. We go to the mountains.

I shot as stress reliever and to put meat on the table. I prefer to neek up and get close. Started using a ruger srh 44 mag. Also shoot a 8x57 Mauser there is something sexy about a Mauser cartridge in a Mauser action.

Love to shoot. But unfortunely don't have a place nearby to shoot at anymore.

Frodo, we thought your Main hobby was Eating or Cooking....all the photos of great food you post on here.
I have a 200 yd range with the shooting bench in my front yard. Getting ready to go to Montana next month to shoot prairie dogs; our usual spot in Holly Colorado has had so much drought, the numbers are way down. I also shoot 3 gun like you see on TV, but I ain't that good. (Shotgun, AR 15 and handgun)
Gunpowder and Likker don't mix.....ruins the taste.
TPee, steel targets are the Thing...love to hear that Smack. I feel sorry for y'all in those countries where you don't get to play with Gun Toys.

I shoot 30 carbine and 2 ak's

30 rd clips each, bump full auto then spend 30 minutes trying to find my brass

tried shooting over a tarp, that did not work out.

so now, the shits so shiney it stands out,

also gives me time to unspect and cull out bad brass

wish i had enough powder. only 10 lbs.

Long distance is just the same as being there . 15 to 300 yd range from my patio . 1K+ by moving 600 feet up the road and getting a full view of the farm . Multiple venues from .22 to .45/70 Govt . Jed , I understand your affection for that K98 . My wife bought me one last week . Been scrubbing and cleaning on it every day and have yet to pull a clean patch . 1943 issue and I think I will find that it has not been cleaned since it went into battle in 1943 . Got an M4 AR and can be proficient with it . I prefer rifles with handles on their sides and 1911 .45's .
If you ain't the lead dog in the team , the scenery never changes . Ga Flatwoods made my avatar and I want to thank him for that .

love the k98..only thing you need to look out for on those l]old milsurps, is head space,
the k98 is famous for being out.

you can get a go or no go or field gauge at midwayusa.

do you have the german SS or bird on yours? or swastika ?

look close, you might find one at the end of the forearm that flat spot where barrel meets wood

beariver..20k in 22lr you da man!!

I have a friend at the local archery shop that has one , we have contests shooting at flys that land on the practice butts. I can't think of the name of the thrower he has. It is an aboriginal weapon. It has a long spear with a sling to throw it. He is actually quite accurate with it. It's like the one in the movie Quigly down under.

That is pretty cool. NFAA has a division for traditional long bow some of them are beautiful with different laminations and wood types . rules designate they also have to shoot wooden arrows also but they do get a distance break. I have a friend that makes the Flemish twist strings for his.
