Atlatl is a Native American term for this throwing tool, here it is generally called a woomera. I have one in the next room and they make a very big difference to the velocity power and distance to which the spear can be projected, once mastered they make a profound difference to accuracy as well

I know Don can hit a 8 inch spot at 20 yards consistently.

That is pretty cool. NFAA has a division for traditional long bow some of them are beautiful with different laminations and wood types . rules designate they also have to shoot wooden arrows also but they do get a distance break. I have a friend that makes the Flemish twist strings for his.
The bow was made by the The Aeta (Ayta), or Agta, are an indigenous people who live in scattered, isolated mountainous parts of the island of Luzon, In the Philippine Island

I picked it up, while i was their. along with a set of Bolo knives. and blow gun

bunch of other junk..wanna buy some temple dogs? pictures, wood carvings???LOL

The Aete also called Negritos..guarded the base [Clark Air Field] perimeter and the planes on the flight line.
The commander of the base had a deal with the Chief, for any filipino caught sneaking onto the base
20 pounds or rice would be paid.
so the negritos would atch filipinos and display the body on the fence. commander could not have this
he did not want them killed just caught,,[my personal opinion, negerto's way made better since than catch and release]

so the commander fired the Chief and his people.
The next morning, ALL the MP's on the flight line.
you have 4 per plane, 1 in front, back and on each wing

had a white "X" on their boot.

Point made!!!!
The chief, asked the Commander if he had his job back..

commander said yes.

these pygmy people were cool as hell. they would roam the base, dumpster diving

I think I got my mac-gyver-ism from watching them, they can make anything out of nothing

Nice bow. Handmade bows are fun to shoot and a unique hunting experience.

My father made my 3 brothers and me pacific yew takedown bows in 2001. His roommate who was dying, owned a bow making business. Anyways, 2 of us chuckleheads sold them and the oldest-youngest kept ours. Mine is a woman's bow beacuse I am the youngest and was small at the time he made it. I'll give it to my daughter when she gets of age. Maybe she'll take to it like Corene, who knows? It would be cool.

I'm not having a contest with you Frodo! I don't want to be That Guy!

I don't have any long distance guns right now. The range at my friends farm has a 100 yard max. I am looking to get a .243 next so I can share with the wife and have decent range at the same time. 1 week before I went down for my shoulder surgery, I got a Saiga 12 and made a bullpup out of it. Have only taken it out shooting once. It is a nice stress relief to rip off 10 rounds of 12 gauge as fast as you can pull the trigger.

I shot last weekend. Made up 10 lbs of homemade Tannerite. Used 7 lbs of it on a beaver dam. Exploding targets are too much fun. The laughter and excitement are hard to contain after a really big boom

I shoot USPSA. Limited, optic, and PCC. Shot a few multi gun matches. Rifle, PCC, and handgun. Done a few steel challenges. I am building a long range precision rifle now. A Howa 1500 in 6.5 Creedmoor. I have a 100 yard rifle and handgun range. With around 13 steel targets setup for handgun and PCC practice. Finally picked up a progressive press to add to my single stage and turret presses. Since I had been in Hawaii For the last year and a half. I hadn’t had a chance to even look at a gun. Then I get back here to find ammo is like non existent. And now I don’t want to waste the ammo I do have. But I am looking forward to a good range day soon.
