Vapour Infusion with gin basket filter placed horizontally above inside the boiler.

Post by artooks »

Hi Everyone,

I want to try Vapor Infusion in my next run, so what I already have is the inside of a gin basket only, I used this to make raki normally with aniseed in the boiler in the liquid, now I am thinking if I move this up above the liquid in the boiler and keep it horizontal and fix it with an SS wire to the upper lid would I still be able to make the vapor infusion with the basket horizontal, I weighed the botanicals to see how much space they take and find out that only half of the basket is full when I put all my botanicals inside what do you think ?

my feeling is that, normally the basket is in the caddy, and fits quite snug.
this forces the vapour through the botanicals.
i'm not saying your method won't work, it will be interesting to find the result.
the proof will be in the pudding.
maybe a chew on the botanicals afterwards to see if any taste is left?
