I recently sampled some shine that was diluted and flavored with boiled Birch bark, Sassafras and Molasses.
Don't know for sure who made it, but I have my suspicions
All I can say, if he's guilty, the Old Boy did a fine job.

Interesting....would be great to have some more general details on the recipe.

Just guessing, not that I might have helped or something like that
100% home malted wheat, Steam stripped on the grain.
Redistilled with a packed column, diluted with boiled Birch bark, Sassafras root and Molasses
Aged, then filtered.

Damn that sounds intriguing. I'd try it!

As a matter of pride.
Normally, I'm not a fan of artificially flavoring or coloring a white whiskey.
But this was an exception.

Sassafras tea has been used for a long time as a spring tonic by folks here in the hills. So you're sipping it at the right time of year.[emoji16]

Re: Birch bark, Sassafras and Molasses
I used to scope out and dig up sassafras roots and make tea when I was probably 7-10. Filé and crawdads as a younger adult (that stuff is banned now - Oh no!) Molasses just a tiny ghost of sweetness? 90’ish proof?
Sounds Precious!
