foreshots and how to use them

Post by Nabatean »

Hi

I am just curious : what are you guys doing with the foreshots ?

For me its a waste to throw them away. Here is what I figured out I could do with it

1. Mix with non alcoholic aftershave. There is a lot of that here in the Middle East and these perfumes mix exremely well with foreshots
2. Use as ants destroyer. Lots of termites in the houses. A generous pouring of alocohol where ever they are : I believe dying in an alcoholic stupor isnt bad for ants.
3. Cleaning. Foreshots are excellent to dillute in water for floor cleaning.
4. Light my fire : nothing better for the BBQ. Pour royal dose over the (UNLIT!) charcoal and light it.

The above usually takes care of all my foreshots but any new use of it is more than welcome

I use them for removing marker pen and labels from bottles.

So was it Oudh that you were mixing them with?

Well,Having read here on this site that one can mix them and the tails with the next wash for distilling,I saved all of mine in 5L bottles.Low and behold I cought the guy who works for me pouring himself a shot this morning from one of the bottles.I had stressed when we bottled the stuff it was not for drinking and could make people very ill ,what possesed him to drink it is beyond me.Naturaly I have dumped the stuff untill I find lock up storage for it. NO! you do not want to use foreshots. heads and tales OK but not fores.
use fores for non drinking purposes only.

+1 to what Dndrhead said.

As far as I know, reusing forshots can cause a build up of harmful fusel oils, especially if you keep reuse the foreshots from that batch.

More the acetone and ethyl acetate that is the problem, I think.

Fores have a lot of uses around the house workshop. Solvent cleaner, ant or weed poison, firestarter, disinfectant, etc.
Be safe.
Be discreet.
And have fun.

I pour it right into the lawn mower. nothing more satisfying than mowing the grass with home made fuel. But she runs alittle funky until she warms up, cleans the bitch right out.

fly trap: use a plastic 2-3 L soda bottle cut the top off where it stars curving in, ,invert like a funnel, pore a little fore shots in ,the "gnats" git in and cant git out
for other flies use something putrid(old fish cleanings works good), just set it somewhere you do not have to smell it. when it gits full ,bag and dispoes of.

if some one is bothered by a possum but ""do not hurt it" set some food out soaked in fore shots he will be lying out like dead, bag him
and take him some where and let him sleep it off.

Different kinds but Oudh was one of them.

Saudi perfumes advertise

=DOES NOT CONTAIN ALCOHOL=

As if someone wants to drink that heavy mixture of musk scents.

Mixed with foreshots : perfume becomes lighter. The alcohol frees some of the fruity notes of the perfume. Perfect aftershave.

Firespinning  good party trick. Does not mix well with drinking, and not advisable for the untrained (and you can't mind looking like you escaped from the circus).

PS Don't ever try and breathe fire.

I mix my fores into my usual fuel (coleman fuel), or use them mixed with various salts and such to create coloured flames (as fores burn clear, they're a blank canvas...).

I use the foreshots in an alcohol stove made from two old soda cans:

Here's a video on how to make the stove:

This is one using a Bud light aluminum bottle. Much sturdier!:
