Ran a batch of Scotch Whiskey in my modified Lemon and the stuff tastes like whiskey.
I removed the cooling lines from the column and routed them so the inlet is on the bottom of the condenser and the outlet is near the top. I used a valve to regulate the flow to keep the top of the condenser warm. I also insulated the copper mesh and marble filled column.
The temperature was very difficult to control and the highest average I got was 88%, compared to 92% with the original design of the still. I read tons of criticisms of the Lemon still and made modification to reflect what has been suggested in various posts. I think the guys who criticize the Lemon still have never used one.
I've studied the off-set column and can find nothing that would make it SO much better than my modified Lemon.
There's little doubt that there is a perfect still, but I can't find a design anywhere.

Do we suppose to know that still?
I searched the forum and it ends up only with lemon juice.
Maybe some pics would be helpful.

Re: Modified Lemon reflux
He must be talking about a Bob Lennon still design.
