New Copper Pads

Post by jimmycrackedcorn » Wed Jun 20, 2012 3:14 pm

when putting new copper pads in my column i always soak them in sanitizer the rinse them in hot water. Is there anything else I should do before running my first batch thru my still? do i need to run vinegar and water or anything else thru it before my first run?

You don't need to soak the pads first but I guess it won't hurt. Recommended steps is run a vinegar water run first, then a low wine (sacrificial run) this should be all that is needed. After each run I like to rinse my still but other than that I don't do anything else.
