how long will a wash keep

Post by ROD01 »

I have seen this question a few times and thought i would show a couple of pics of old washes.
I come from an all grain brewing background so sanitation is high on my list and I also boil my wort before fermentation.
The first set of pics is DWWG mixed with flaked rye from June/12. I got into a UJSSM cycle which ran to 21 or 22 generations and produced nice stuff aging on oak but left no time to run the wheat germ.
The second is 4kg of sugar mixed with the 3rd runnings from an all grain beer mash from Nov/12 and stripped today.
Both were racked off the yeast cake into secondary glass carboys after 2-3 weeks in the buckets. So don't panic if you can't run a wash for a while, as long as your sanitation was good, it will keep.
