Sacrificial run

Post by neil »

How often do you guys use a sacrificial run? I read about people who do it almost every time the start distilling again, some only ones when the put a new still into use and all in between. What is the best way to go?

Every time there is a modification to the still, as in new soldering or new equipment. Otherwise, I just rinse the equipment after the run and hang it up (so it dries out) till I'm ready for the next run.

On all of my stills, I've only run one sac run because I design them before building so I don't need to change them once fabricated.

PS. neil, I'm seeing question after question that should have already been answered if you've done your required homework. Please take the time to read the spoon-fed link in my signature. And read the new distillers threads as well. You'll avert your questions and learn more in the process.

Just do it one time after you finish all mods to the still.
