Keg:column ring and clamp

Post by Benredbeard »

It looks from vendor websites like there is a special ring/gasket for the Sanke keg port to column flange connection... does a typical Teflon/PTFE flange ring not fit?

Does a regular clamp work on this join?

Most guys running kegs (including me) simply cut one side of a standard ptfe gasket to make it flat. This side goes against the keg flange and bob's your uncle.

There's a thread here showing how this can be done in a matter of minutes with an x-acto knife.

And if you're not overly fond of exacto blades (they love to bite me) you can accomplish the same trick by using a sheet of 80 grit sandpaper and a flat surface. Done!

I used 120 grit and a ferrule to hold the gasket. Slide back and forth on the sandpaper placed on a solid flat surface. It quickly takes the bead off of the gasket so it mates nice and flat on the Sanke outlet.

turn a 5 gallon bucket upside down the gasket should fit right in the center, at least mine did.
Use a side grinder with a flap sanding disk, makes it real smooth.
