I'm going to buy an air still and go through being a newbie.

As an experienced distiller I am going to purchase an air still. Then I will follow the instructions perfectly. After I may or may not post my experience.

I downloaded and read the instructions and I don't think I could bring myself to follow them :D but I have tasted some with Bourbon essence from another distiller and it was ok.

I've got one that I picked up in a charity shop for a few dollars, but haven't put down a sugar wash since then. When I do, I'll put some through it.

You will be tearing your hair out , you will be constantly thinking why would you do it this way?
Your experienced side will want to strip wash first then run that strip, also the experienced one will want to make cuts , the experienced side will also want to add a controller to the set up.
The Newbie will be dancing around in the background but wont stand a chance in the long run Is my guess.

To stick up for the poor, defenceless airstill, they're quite good to play around with gin recipes if you throw away the instructions first!

I have one and use it now and then.

Good grief it's a small pot still, period. I never understand the grief they get!

A- if it is all you could have, it can work!

B- if I need a small test and or to try a flavor in something, it works.

I took the plastic off the output side and fit a piece of stainless CSST.

Going back to basics. I love it! Rubberduck, I have been yearning to do the same. Now that my once hobby has turned into a professional still building business and more. I actually am just finishing building a 1 liter still, a 4 liter potstill and a 10 liter hybrid just for that goal: to re-open the shed (in Hungary, where homedistilling is allowed) and refind the joys of plain and simple distilling ...

Regards, Odin.
