New byuild cleaning

Post by JOBRLA »

Just built a nice still parrot. Anyone have a good cleaning idea to get deep inside the device to clean out all the old burnt flux and left over carbon.
I was thinking boiling with a drop or two of dish soap and then soak in vinegar .
Any thoughts, much appreciated.

Soak in a citric acid solution then rinse in hot water.

As he said regrettable, that's fine. There are several ways to achieve the same thing. If you don't have citric acid, use vinegar, then rinse and, if you can, put some high abv alcohol (which you then throw away).

I always clean as the build progress which leaves me with fewer corners I can't reach afterward.
For cleaning, I use acetic acid around 30%.
Works fine on stainless and copper (gives it a reddish tan though).
After that just rinse with water and some crappy alcohol leftovers.
