Re: filtering with activated carbon
I have not heard anything about diluting before filtering. I guess it could remove some stuff from the water that you diluted it with. If it clouds up after diluting it down, filtering will clear it up

FYI. If filtering is your process, then learn about how to do it.

On page 24, this image says the optimum %ABV for carbon filtering. So, indeed the book does tell you…..if you read it closely.Im sure it says somewhere that dilution should be to around 45-50% ......could be wrong though.......not sure where ive seen it.

Yes i saw that . It does not state that % is the optimum . (its just a picture) This is what prompted my question in the first place . My main reason for joining this forum was to learn from the experienced distillers out there. I don't mind doing my own research but if something confused me ,or I'm not sure ,rather than making a mistake it would be nice to clarify with asking someone who , maybe would know.still_stirrin wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 6:20 pmOn page 24, this image says the optimum %ABV for carbon filtering.Im sure it says somewhere that dilution should be to around 45-50% ......could be wrong though.......not sure where ive seen it.

Re: filtering with activated carbon
There are other places around the internet that quote similar percentages, suggest you try still spirits sites and some other places.
