Shotgun build
Hi guys.
I use a 2” pot with a Liebig condenser at the moment. Going to build a 2” shotgun condenser to replace the Liebig.
Was thinking of 20” long with 5 x 1/2” internal tubes. I use a t500 boiler with a 2000w element.
Would this size be ok?
Cheers Steve

Re: Shotgun build
My 36 or 900 liebig inch over half will knock down 4000w on a 2 inch pot for a stripping run, so as Yummy said it will be fine.

Re: Shotgun build
I have no idea why you would want or need to put a shotgun that size on a T500 boiler, complete over kill.......why not just make a slightly bigger liebig if the one you have isn't doing the job?
1/4 the price , 1/4 the work , 1/4 the hassle to build.

Re: Shotgun build
Eventually hoping to upgrade my equipment over time to get away from the t500. Figure if I build something decent now it’ll be usable down the track. Also satisfaction of building stuff.Saltbush Bill wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 12:15 am I have no idea why you would want or need to put a shotgun that size on a T500 boiler, complete over kill.......why not just make a slightly bigger liebig if the one you have isn't doing the job?

Good thinking. Build something you can grow into, not out of.SteveH1960 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 12:20 amEventually hoping to upgrade my equipment over time to get away from the t500. Here's a vote for using Twisted Brick's stamped 4 tube end plates. Super easy.

+1 4 half inch vapor tubes is all you really need, and it just makes it crazy simple.

Thanks guys
Re: Shotgun build
I would add, the benefit of having an overkill condenser is the added surface area will require less coolant (water) flow. The bette exchange surface will take out all the "cold" of the water, so you'll need less water flow.
If you are using tap water, you are saving water
If you are in a closed circuit for your cooling, well there is not a lot of benefits.

Re: Shotgun build
I now have a massively overengineered condenser on my pot still.
A Davies condenser; I poked a copper tube through the middle of my Liebig
so there is water running inside and outside and the product through the middle.
The water drains through a hose onto the garden.
Unless there has been rain we still have to water the plants.
