Sorghum

hi i have never made a grain mash just wondering if i could make one out of sorghum can get it for $10 for 20kg whole or thru a hammer mill i need a very simple recipe thanks

... or look up "milo" (as it is known in much of the northern US).

I've made many batches of AG vodka from milo/sorghum bi-color. If you're planning a whiskey, you can use it in any recipe in place of wheat. Just use a little more sorghum.

To me sorghum has a low yeild and a funk especially in tails. BAD tails. Sorghum malt has little diastatic power. That said in South Africa we have a traditional beer, umkhomboti that is typically sorghum malt and maize meal. But if you have acces to high temp enzymes rather do maize meal and use the sorghum sparingly as adjunct.
